Gujarat Titans Continue Operations Despite IPL Suspension

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 11: In light of the ongoing uncertainty regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have kept their training sessions active. The team, currently at the top of the points table, has not altered its training schedule even after the tournament was put on hold on May 9 due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Following the suspension announcement, many international players and coaching staff left India within a day. However, the Titans stood out as the only team that did not completely disband, with only their overseas players, Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee, returning to England and South Africa, respectively. The majority of the squad and support staff remained in Ahmedabad, the franchise's base, to continue their training at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

On Saturday evening, a ceasefire between India and Pakistan was declared, and on Sunday, Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), confirmed that the board would reveal the IPL's restart date after discussions with all relevant parties and government officials.

Currently, Gujarat Titans lead the points table with eight victories out of 11 matches, tied with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but ahead on net run rate. They have three matches left, two of which will be played at home against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while the third is scheduled in Delhi against Delhi Capitals (DC).

In the race for the Orange Cap, Titans' openers B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are in second and third place, respectively, each having scored over 500 runs, trailing only Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai Indians (MI). Additionally, in the Purple Cap competition, GT's fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is leading with 20 wickets.
